Ayan, Russia

August 5, 1998

We stopped for fuel in Ayan, making our approach over the Okhotsk Sea, onto a gravel runway. Under us were sea lions bobbing their heads up and down.  It was beautiful, probably the prettiest place we have been in Russia.  The rest of the planes landed about an hour later and fueled up.  We hated to leave Ayan, but we had a commemoration to finish.  We took off and followed the coastline, headed to our destination.
