Nobody told us that Greenland was so beautiful..WOW… I woke up at 6am and looked out the window to nothing but fog.. I looked over at Nikki to tell her that is looked cruddy, but didn’t have the heart to wake her. She went to bed last night in the feather bed with the feather pillows and the down comforter, talking about how the bed just hugged you when you slept.. She was all wadded up in the corner of the bed hugging the pillows.. So, I used it as an excuse to sleep some more. An hour later, the sky was blue… We got ready and caught our same cab driver. He took us to the airport and we went in to pay our way out.. After I figured liters to gallons, then their money to ours, the fuel was about $7.55 a gallon. Folks, run fast to Cedar City Aviation in Lebanon, Tennessee. They have a bargain with fuel less than $2.00… We decided to fly to the southern tip of Greenland and then back up to Kulusuk.. By the time we got almost to the tip, we were on top of the clouds, so we cut across the glacier and hit the east coast and traveled up. It was so great. Very Beautiful. Made me want to move to Alaska even more. Maybe in a couple of years !!! About 30 miles out of Kulusuk, we called into SondreStrom Information. After that, a King Air hollered at us and told us that Iceland was looking for us. It seems Mikey and Jeremy told all the pilots going west to look for us. This guy had 20,000 hours ferrying planes. Told me that I could go with him some. I think I would like that .. We fueled up at Kulusuk and paid the $169.00 fee to keep the airport open for us 15 minutes after closing.. Then headed out towards Iceland.. It was Great….. We saw whales on our way. (Kept Nikki occupied) “Look Nikki, there’s one… Oops, it’s just a shadow from the cloud”..(Just kidding) Nikki said that she always thought, when you flew over water, the land would look like it rose up from the water.. But in reality, it just fades into view…When the mountain on Iceland faded into view, it looked wonderful…By the time we got there, it was 11pm but looked only like 6pm in the summer in Nashville.. Nikki found the airport first and got the video camera out. I guess she thought it was going to be worth filming since I had a 50degree crab into the wind on final until about 200′ above the runway.. The wind dropped off to calm, (just for me)….Thank Goodness… As we rolled into the General Aviation parking, the tower told us to taxi behind the Comanche and follow the line guy waving us in. Behind the Comanche was Jeremy with a video camera. As I turned to the line guy, I realized it was Mikey. Boy, Nikki and I were so glad to see them…They had customs there waiting. Mikey had a car and since it was so late, all the food we could find was at a gas station. We had not eaten all day and had flown almost 11 hours. Nikki and I sat in the back of the car and fixed cheese sandwiches with mustard while Mikey drove us to Keflavik… So, now Nikki is in bed “again” and I am doing the journal. But this time, I’m too tired to be a bully…Could be that it is 4:30am Iceland time… Goodnight Guys…
